Welcome to World Cruise 2012
This blog is going to allow you to plan, prepare, and, travel with me around the world via cruise shop in 2012. Upon completion of the trip, the blog, along with hundreds of photos and on-board journals will be converted into a book which will be available for purchase in 2012.
The
Goal: To help those who are thinking
about booking a world cruise get through the
process from researching which cruise line and ship
is right for you; to how to go about booking the trip; what to expect
and, the actual travel experience of a world cruise - all done from a
personal perspective.
Frankly, there isn't much information out there about world cruises at the moment and, it is frustrating. It is this writer's hope to take some of the mystery out of the process and, also, allow those who may never be able to afford such a trip, the chance to take this voyage of a lifetime through my photos and writing.
The Real Basics: Getting down to the real basics of a world cruise, a lot of people reading this might not fully understand what a world cruise involves. The first two major considerations for booking such a trip are TIME and MONEY. On average, a true world cruise lasts about 3 months in time and the lowest available category stateroom can start as much as $25,000 per person (for two people sharing one stateroom) or around $45,000 for a solo traveler. This is why a journey such as a world cruise requires lots of planning and, that is why it is wise to begin planning at least 18 months in advance.
So once again, welcome aboard! I hope you find this journey fun, exciting and most of all informative! And, I hope you enjoy the journey around the world in 2012 with me.
